Story

What We do

FutureLearn provides innovative and accessible education solutions to schools, tutors, parents and learners. We are your complete education solution partner, offering a broad range of CAPS-aligned curriculum products and expert support to suit your education needs.

Our Journey

Impaq was established in 2002 under the brand name Impak. We initially focused on providing curriculum products and services to home education learners and parents. We started with only 400 learners in 2002, but our unique brand and innovative offering resulted in rapid growth to 3 800 learners in 2008 and over 5 300 learners in 2012.

PSG Private Equity, a 100% subsidiary of the PSG Group, acquired a majority share in Impak in 2012. The PSG Group, the company behind success stories such as Capitec, PSG Konsult and Curro schools, was established in 1995 and is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).

Since the PSG acquisition, Impak has invested significant time and effort to modernise our brand and offering. We successfully launched our school offering, simplified our tutor model and improved our home education materials. With these improvements in place, we grew to 13 000 registered learners in 2016.

The year 2016 also marked a new phase in the company’s journey. We launched FutureLearn as an education group with the vision of developing the future of learning in South Africa and globally, and soon afterwards completed the rebranding of Impaq. The newly formed group owns the Impaq brand and offering, established a new school (Arrow Academy) in Centurion, and has since started investing in exciting brands that will help build our vision for the future including, Teach360, CAMI, Media Works and Tuta-Me.

Last year Impaq continued to grow and at the end of 2018 we had 16 800 registered learners. We look forward to supporting even more learners on their learning journey in the future.

Our Future

FutureLearn is developing an integrated learning ecosystem and platform that provides individualised guided learning in any environment. To do this, the group will continue to build and invest in innovative education solutions for schools, tutors, parents and learners.
